My Bible Study – Creation Day Two

Genesis Chapter One verses 6-8 Creation Day Two

This is “My Bible Study.” A verse by verse walk through the Bible.

In “My Bible Study,” we started last week in Genesis chapter one verse one and made our way down to verse number five, which completed the first day. And I emphasized that nothing happened until God spoke. That is what kicked off the entire creation process.

God came up with a plan to demonstrate His love and His power. For God is love.
And in God is all power. Amen. And we kind of went into that last time in day one.

The earth was completely void, waste, desolate, confused, chaos all over the face of it. And when God came up with His plan, He hovered over the waters. And nothing happened. His presence was just hovering over the waters. Nothing happened until God and said, “Let there be light” and light was! Praise the Lord! If you missed last week, go back and listen to that complete explanation of day one of Creation.

Today we’re moving into Genesis day number two. We’re going to start reading in verse six. Again, nothing happens until God says something. This is so important. You have to grasp that God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament and divided the waters, which were under the firmament, from the waters, which were above the firmament. And it was so. God called the firmament heaven and the evening and the morning or the second day.”

I remember seeing a presentation by Dr. Carl Baugh, I believe from “The Creation Institute,” in Glen Rose, Texas. You can Google him if you want to see what I’m talking about. But he explained, in layman’s terms, how the whole earth was a sort of “sealed system.” It really is quite fascinating. It never rained until Noah’s flood. There was a firmament in the atmosphere. Kind of like a “bubble” that contained, basically, moisture. Anyway, I’m getting off of topic. Go look it up. He explains it a lot better than I can.

One thing the Bible critics say about Day One, is where God said “Light be…and light was.” But then He creates the sun a few days later. So critics will ask “How can that be?”

It is a simple answer if you think about it. It is God’s Glory that is now giving Light to the earth! It was His physical manifestation to the earth that was “without form and void. Where darkness was on the face of the deep.” That is why in the Book of the Revelation, it says in the New Jerusalem, there will be no need for the sun or moon to give light because HE is the Light! Amen!

Remember Elijah up on the mountain? Where he said, “I want to see your glory?” God said, “Nobody can see my face and live. But I’ll pass by you. I’ll hide you in a  cleft and cover with my hand. I’ll walk by and you’ll see my back parts.” In other words, you’ll see where I’ve been. His glory is an all – consuming glory. That’s why I say in can have no sin in God’s presence. You cannot say, “Well, you know, I’m just an old sinner saved by grace.”

No, you’re not. You were an old sinner. You could not come into the presence of God without being consumed by the glory. The light. The light is a visible representation of the glory. That is the Light of Day One and continues until He creates the sun, moon and stars.

Now they two ways to talk about this ferment. You have Heaven where God exists. Now He’s created a heaven and expanse that will hold everything else. There He is, creating the expanse that we call outer space. That’s the area that is the expanse and then He also created the atmosphere of the earth. That’s the third heaven. That’s why it says that there is a separating between waters and waters. All of this, the waters that is now contained in the atmosphere. That third heaven is now separated from outer space. And God said, let there be affirmative in the midst of the waters and divide the waters from the waters.

Again, I recommend you watch the video by Dr. Carl Baugh. If I can find the link, I’ll put it in the links in this post. But he explains, very clearly, what this expanse is and how it was set up and how it worked. It was perfect. And the Bible is very clear, that God “saw that it was good.” Amen!

God created it. It was perfect. And that’s what I want you to understand. And now we have outer space that will hold the sun, the stars, the moons, and all of that. And we have the environment for His creation that will be in a physical form just to demonstrate how the power of his love can conquer everything. He now has Heaven separated from everything else. Outer space is separated from the upper Heaven where God resides. Now you have a physical space, outer space and then, the atmosphere around this earth which He created on day one.

On the second day God, in His miraculous way, adjusted the atmosphere’s composition to contain the correct amount of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen and all the inner gases necessary for photosynthesis and sustaining life itself. Because that’s going to be vital as we move forward in this creation concept as we move into the third day.

So that is the creation of the Second day where the Bible says, “God called the firmament heaven and the evening and the morning were the second day.” That’s the first Heaven, the second heaven which is outer space. And the third heaven is the atmospheric composition around the earth.

God seals it all up and that is the end of day two.
