Come to the Table – Sean McCoy pt 2

Come to the Table – Sean McCoy pt 2

Have you ever had a conversation with someone that may not believe the same way you do. Not just about Faith, though that is important. But about any topic. Baseball, football, politics. Just talking with them without any preconceived notions about how the conversation would go?

Do you get angry and walk out on your friend or whoever you are talking to?  If not, why not?

What makes talking about Faith or religion any different than talking about baseball or football?

Maybe it’s because we don’t really take the time to “listen” to the other person. Maybe they are hurting. Maybe they are lonely. Maybe they just need someone to talk to without being judgmental in the process.

My guest today has a podcast that actually does just that! Sean McCoy is the host of the “Come to the Table Podcast.” This podcast is about just sitting down with someone and “talking.” Imagine that.

Sean says, “Love in action is listening to understand, not to react.”

His is not a podcast about discussing spiritual deconstruction, reconstruction, contemplation or The Bible. He says, “There are numerous podcasts that do that…we know because we love and listen to them constantly.”

Sean’s intent is take all that he knows and believes at the time and to live it out in a conversation while sitting at a literal or figurative table. And he does not shy away from a topic or person but, at the same time, he says, “We are not going to have an argument or debate.”

Is there any one particular subject you enjoy talking about more than others?

What is the overall theme you have seen discussed on your podcast?

Give us an example of a guest or conversation that has profoundly impacted your listeners…

What conversation has impacted you the most?

What was the most controversial guest or topic you had on your podcast?

How do you see the future of podcasting impacting the church?

There are now some video podcasts, or Vlogs, that are becoming popular. Do you see these as having a future impact in ministry?

Sean, if someone wanted to get in contact with you, to ask a question or be a guest – or even to be a guest on their podcast – how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?

I’ll put all that in the show notes below.

Folks, I’ve listened to a few of Sean’s podcasts episodes. It actually sounds like he is sitting around a kitchen table having a cup of coffee with someone. Just talking. Not judging. Not arguing. Just talking and listening. It really is a great podcast and I recommend you stop by and listen to a few episodes – even subscribe so you can be notified when a new episode is released.

Speaking of subscribing, I would appreciate it if you hit the subscribe button down below for this podcast as well – Glory to God! Amen!

Sean, thank you for taking the time to come on the program today. I would love to have you come back on sometime when you have something you want to share. I mean that.
