Come to the Table – Sean McCoy pt 1

Come to the Table – Sean McCoy pt 1

Have you ever had a conversation with someone that may not believe the same way you do. Not just about Faith, though that is important. But about any topic. Baseball, football, politics. Just talking with them without any preconceived notions about how the conversation would go?

Do you get angry and walk out on your friend or whoever you are talking to?  If not, why not?

What makes talking about Faith or religion any different than talking about baseball or football?

Maybe it’s because we don’t really take the time to “listen” to the other person. Maybe they are hurting. Maybe they are lonely. Maybe they just need someone to talk to without being judgmental in the process.

My guest today has a podcast that actually does just that! Sean McCoy is the host of the “Come to the Table Podcast.” This podcast is about just sitting down with someone and “talking.” Imagine that.

Sean says, “Love in action is listening to understand, not to react.”

His is not a podcast about discussing spiritual deconstruction, reconstruction, contemplation or The Bible. He says, “There are numerous podcasts that do that…we know because we love and listen to them constantly.”

Sean’s intent is take all that he knows and believes at the time and to live it out in a conversation while sitting at a literal or figurative table. And he does not shy away from a topic or person but, at the same time, he says, “We are not going to have an argument or debate.”

Help me welcome to the program, Sean McCoy!  Sean, thank you for taking the time to come on OUR podcast today!

The first question I always ask is this, other than that short information I just read, tell us in your own words, “Who is Sean McCoy?”

This is an interesting twist or take on podcast interviews. How long have you been doing this podcast?

What led you to do this type of podcast?

How do you find your guests?

About how many episodes do you have published now?

You say that you “challenge preconceived notions…”  What do you mean by that?

In your opinion, why should we engage in conversations with others who may not hold to the same Faith or beliefs that we do
