As My Mind Unwinds – Jennifer Ervig pt 1
As My Mind Unwinds
Jennifer Ervig pt 1
Do you have a passion for encouraging others?
Have you thought about ways you could connect with other people, bring them some encouragement, share your heart and honor Jesus all at the same time? Without (using the dreaded “PC” word today) “offending” anyone?
Well, my guest today has been able to do just that!
Jennifer Ervig is the of author of the book, “As My Mind Unwinds,” a 31 day devotional that is a compilation of different articles or blog posts she has shared with her followers, but in a devotional format. “When My Mind Winds Up.”
Currently working as the Connections Pastor at The Grove Church in Marysville, Wa, Jen strives to bring people closer to Jesus while encouraging them to not take themselves too seriously.
She’s worked as a ghost blogger for an SEO company for many years and has been a credentialed minister for 7 years. She also recently acquired her Assemblies of God Coaching Credential. Her writing has appeared in Angela Craig’s book, “Under One Umbrella”, as well as Reflections for Pursuit Church Live, Women Devotions, Faith Filled Family Magazine.
Help me welcome to the program, Jennifer Ervig! Jennifer, it so good to talk to you finally! Thank you for coming on the program!
Jennifer, the first question I always ask is this. Other than that short bit of information I provided, tell us in your own words, “Who is Jennifer Ervig?”
How did you get started in writing?
“Ghost writing,” that has some unique challenges, right? How do you find “the voice” of the person who wants you to write something for them?
Tell us about your book, “As My Mind Unwinds.” I love the little blurb on your website that says, “Much like Seinfeld is a “show about nothing”, As My Mind Unwinds is a devotional about nothing. There really is no theme except for this…finding a way to reconcile anything your mind unwinds or winds up about with who Jesus is.”
Tell me about witnessing through reviewing books? That is interesting because I’m an avid reader, sometimes 25 books a year, but more typically 15-18. How do you pursue that?
You have a blog post to encourage people to continue to tithe, even in hard times. Tell us about that time in your life when you learned that lesson.
In your writings, you focus on JOY over happiness. Can you explain the difference?
Since we have talked about some things in your new book already, tell us about your new book, “When My Mind Winds Up.”
This life, culture and society today, although an “easier life to live” than say, 100 years ago or even 50 years ago, has its own unique stressors that our grandparents did not have to experience. What are some ways someone can use to overcome anxiety?
Is this book written in a devotional format?
Folks, Jennifer Ervig’s book, “As My Wind Unwinds” and “As My Mind Winds Up” are unique in that they do not just preach to you. They goes deeper than that. They takes you closer to God. They allow you to see God in your everyday life. They allow you to commune with God, talk with God and HEAR from God in your daily routine.
