Episode 204 – Stories of Resilience, Tragedy and Triumph – Dr. Charles Thomas pt 2
Episode 204 Show Notes for Dr. Charles Thomas, Jr.
On today’s program, we are going to talk about the ability to “bounce back” from tragedy and failures in life and how to ask for help if you need it. My guest today has written a book called “Breakthrough: Stories of Resilience, Tragedy and Triumph” – help me welcome to the program, Dr. Charles Thomas, Jr, the author of this book.
Dr. Thomas, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule today to visit with us.
Folks, let me tell you a little bit about Dr. Thomas.
Dr. Charles Thomas Jr. is a multi-award winning social entrepreneur, educator, published author, radio personality, and concerned citizen. He has committed himself to service and philanthropic efforts and has varied experiences in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Charles strives to live according to the Renaissance ideal of broad learning and full engagement in life as a demonstration of human potential.
Dr. Thomas earned Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, and Doctoral degrees. He is from Flint, MI (just down M-59 a bit from home town of Port Huron, Michigan) and now lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and children.
One of the things I loved, and I would like you to explain it to our listeners, you said we “should not allow who we are to stop us from being who we want to be…” I loved that statement…can you explain how someone can do that?
Now, these stories are all TRUE stories of real people who have experienced some sort of trials and setbacks in life, correct? OK – how did you come across these people and were you able to verify their stories?
Explain how a persons “mindset, purpose and inspiration” can be changed by reading these stories in your book…how can they do that?
Explain what you mean by the “power of resilience?”
How can people learn to handle failure and the word “no?”
You encourage people to help others – and call it “servant leadership.” Can you explain that?
How can a leader, who is going through a tough time, humble themselves and ask for help?
If someone wanted to get in touch with you or ask you a question – maybe to do an interview such as this – how can they do that?
Dr. Thomas, I thank you so much for taking the time to visit with us. I know our listeners have heard several valuable take tips from everything you have provided today. Thank you again…
