The Elite Performer

Dominque Brightmon pt 1

What does it take to be successful? Each person can actually have their own standards on that, correct? But do you want to emulate someone whose goal in life is to “just get by?” Or would your rather try to follow someone who is where you want to be?

It’s been said that you always need to be looking at those who are where you want to be in order to know the path and avoid the pitfalls.

Well, my guest today is someone who can help you along that path.

Dominque Brightmon has been speaking on this topic for several years now. Probably for as long as I’ve known him, if not more. He shares tips and techniques that will help you to become better in your job, career and in life.

Dominique was raised in the church where he was taught fundamental life lessons and received a head start with public speaking. This early start led him to win 3rd place at a state level speech competition during grade school. (Talk about finding our calling early in life – I was petrified to stand up and give answers to questions in class when I was in grade school)!

While in high school, Dominique took a summer job at a public library to gain experience. After a successful summer performance, he was invited to work there part-time. Since then he has risen through the ranks and gained over a decade of customer service experience.

Thanks to his work experience and having read hundreds of books, Dominique always leaves his audiences with useful tips and strategies. His aim is to help others become better versions of themselves through reading and other forms of self-development.

As an active member of Toastmasters International, Dominique has given dozens of inspirational talks and was awarded for his leadership in 2016 as an Area Director. He was the youngest Area Director in the region at the age of 23.

Dominique has also appeared on many media outlets such as E-Life Media, Fox 45 news, & Toastmasters International Magazine. In addition to appearing on many media outlets, he has created his own, called the “Going North” podcast which interviews authors from all over the world. It has been ranked in the top 10 of all self-help podcasts in the world! AMEN! Glory to God! That’s awesome, brother!

Because of his love for books, Dominique has written and published his own book called, “Going North: Tips & Techniques to Advance Yourself.” Which I interviewed him about a couple of years ago.

Recently, he published another book called, “Going North: The Elite Performer’s 7 Secret Keys to Sustainable Success,” which we will be talking about today.

Help me welcome back to the program, my good friend, Dom Brightmon!

Dom, for those that may not have heard our prior interview, tell us in your own words, “Who is Dominque Brightmon?”

You’ve gone on to do even greater things with Toast Masters over the past couple of years. I know you are part of more than just the Franklin Square Hospital Toastmasters group. What else have you been doing with Toastmasters?

How has Toastmasters helped you to do what you are doing today?

You have been interviewing some great authors on your podcast lately. Tell us about your podcast?

Your first book, “Going North,” we discussed last time. Kind of catch us up on that book. How was it received, any feedback, etc.

Care to share about any memorable ones that you have interviewed?

Why did your write your next book, “Going North: The Elite Performer?”

  • Grieving over the loss of his father…
  • Not aware of his actual mental and spiritual state of grief…
  • So he wants to help others to “be aware” as well.

Who are you trying to reach with this book?

What are the 7 Keys you discuss in the book?

What is the #1 take away you want your readers to achieve with this book?

You discuss habits. I know habits become routines and routines become lifestyle changes. What do you discuss about some of the habits that successful people initiate and have, what you call, a “dynamic life?”?

Does this apply to our private lives only or can these concepts be applied to the workplace?

Folks, I’ve personally known Domique Brightmon for several years now. He is a stand up, all around great guy. And I can tell you from personal experience, the person you have heard today is exactly like this in real life. Dom is a great speaker that you will enjoy having to share these concepts with any conference attendees.

And his books, well…they are awesome. They are an easy read and are chock full of tips, ideas and strategies that will propel you forward in ways you are not even thinking of right now! Yes – they are that good!

Do down below in the show notes and order a copy of his books.

About your host

Profile picture for Robert Thibodeau

Robert Thibodeau

I am a 12 year Army veteran as both enlisted and as a commissioned Cavalry Officer.
I am now a retired law enforcement supervisor...

I had my own business for seven years before I entered law enforcement.

As a cop, I was injured on the job on May 12, 2007 and after several surgeries over a couple of years, forced to retire in 2011.

As I was looking down the road to “what am I going to do next?” I started what is now known as a podcast (I had no clue at the time).

Within six months of starting (what I called) “My online radio program” I was offered an opportunity to be on nationwide AM radio. I learned A LOT in one year of doing that!

I then started the online Christian radio platform "Evangelism Radio" in the fall of 2010. It has had listeners in 160+ nations and all 50 states. We host 50+ Christian broadcasters on a weekly basis. We have been operating 24/7 for almost 14 years now. We have been rated #1 in the world by Shoutcast. com on several occasions in our genre. We recently transferred ownership of Evangelism Radio to another ministry so I could concentrate full time on podcasting, preaching and writing.

In 2018, I started the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast to conduct interviews with Christian influencers from all walks of life and to play their interviews on the radio station. (The KCR Podcast has its own time slot on Evangelism Radio)!
We now have over 1600 episodes and almost 1100 interviews (in just over 6 years).

Looking out at the future of online Christian media, I noticed there was no viable platforms that catered only to the Christian podcast market.

In 2023, we launched a networking platform called, "FaithCasters" which connects "Great Christian podcasters with Great Christian Guests!" This helps to promote the work you do through podcast interviews! Check it out at https://FaithCaster.org

We recently launched "FaithCaster Academy" which serves as a training hub for ALL of our trainings (podcast training / speaker training / interview training, etc.). Members receive access to ALL of our training programs for one low, monthly membership fee. Members also receive FREE access to ALL of the LIVE trainings I conduct (1 or 2 per month) - while non-members have to pay to access the live trainings.

Between my podcast training program, conducting podcast interviews, appearing on other podcasts as guests, speaking at conferences (in person and virtually) and the podcast networking platform, I guess you could say “I’m all in” when it comes to podcasting and online media!

My total focus is to do all we can to assist you to “Get The Word Out” about your mission, services, products, ministry, books, business, etc.
