Ministering Through Writing – Monique Mitchell

Hello everyone everywhere, this is Pastor Robert Thibodeau and I want to welcome you to the Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast today! Let me ask you a question, as we get started today. What is it that you can do that nobody else is doing right now?  Or, let me put it this way…what is it you CAN DO, that you are NOT doing right now – that WILL minister to someone else? In a way that is unique to you?

My guest today fulfills that unique calling that the Lord has given to her. She does it in a way that others also use – but her method is unique to her and is reaching people that, otherwise, may miss out on Heaven because of feelings of inadequacy.

Monique Mitchell is an author who writes her books based on “reality.” Her books are not written for the righteous, those who feel they “have their ticket already punched for Heaven.” Her books reach out to those who feel they have “come up short” and may not “measure up” enough to reach that Eternal Destination.

Her books help people to understand that “we have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God.” Her books help us to understand that, no matter what, His Grace is still effective. Her goal is help people come to God with “realistic beliefs,” knowing that there is NOBODY in the Kingdom of God that got there by being perfect – well, except for Jesus, of course!

Monique Mitchell is from Jamaica, raised in a single parent home and used books to help escape some of the things she endured while growing up. She has written many short stories, published on FaceBook; she has written scripts for plays at church and also has written a lot of poetry.

We will be discussing her latest book, “The Skeletons of Samantha’s Closet” today.

Help me welcome to the program, Monique Mitchell.  Monique, thank you for coming on the program today!

Monique, the question I always start with and have asked every guest is this. Other than that short bio I just read, tell us in your own words, “Who is Monique Mitchell?”

Great!  Now, your book, “The Skeletons of Samantha’s Closet,” has garnered, what could be called, “rave reviews” by your followers. Some saying this book is “intriguing.” Let’s talk about your book, ok?

Tell us, what prompted you to write this book, “The Skeletons in Samantha’s Closet?”

And this book is the story of a pastor’s daughter, who is doing what???

So she is suffering from a sort of “infatuation,” trying to fill a void that is in her life. This void is not only from physical love but also Spiritual love. Correct?”

How does that relate to what you see happening in churches today?

And, in your book, Samantha is actually praying for this judge to get a divorce!  That doesn’t sound very Christian Like, does it?

This concept that Samantha is using, praying for another man to get a divorce so she can be with him instead of his wife, that concept shows that she understands the power of prayer (even if used in a wrong manner). How does that relate to Christians today?

What are your thoughts on those who are “Teaching Grace” but are, sort of “stuck in Karma?”

In your book, how does Samantha’s father react to this?

How does the book end? Or are you going to keep that a secret so people need to buy the book to find out?

Is your book available on Amazon?

I will put the link to your book in the show notes.

Monique, we are all out of time for today. If someone has a question for you or perhaps someone wants to do an interview such as this with you, how can they get in touch? Can you give us your contact information?

I will put links to that in the show notes as well.

Folks, although this is a fictional novel, I believe you can tell from our conversation, it reflects things that are happening inside the church today. Whether it is comfortable or not to discuss these things, they are happening. Monique, through her book, “The Skeleton’s of Samantha’s Closet,” is opening the discussion. You need to get this book. You need to get TWO, so you have one to give to someone else as well.

Use the links in the show notes to order your book today!  Reach out to Monique and tell her how much you love this book as well.

That is all the time we have for today. For Monique Mitchell and myself, this is Pastor Bob reminding you to BE BLESSED IN ALL THAT YOU DO!

Would love for Tyler Perry to see this and make something of it, I have read the book and you deserve a Grammy Monique. Skeletons of Samantha’s closet is so full of suspense and it unearthed alot which is unspoken of in many Christians life.
