Naked Grace – Lucas Kitchen pt 1

Naked Grace

Lucas Kitchen pt 1

Many people today are beginning to realize that they need God now more than ever. With everything going on in the world, with COVID shutdowns and a resurgence in the pandemic to businesses being shut down, closed and some never to reopen. Careers suddenly ending. Income stopped or cut way back.

People everywhere are wondering if they are really saved? They are wondering if something does happen, would they be one of those who would see Jesus as He welcomes them to Heaven…or not…

That is one of the most important questions that people who are searching for eternal life ask, “What do I have to do to be saved?”

On the surface, that should be one of the easiest questions for other believers to answer for someone. But it seems as if it is, instead, one that most people struggle with when trying to share the simple Gospel message of Salvation with others.

So it was with my guest today, Lucas Kitchen. Lucas grew up in Kilgore Texas, attending Kilgore Bible Church, and graduated from Kilgore High School. Despite growing up in the buckle of the Bible belt, confusion about the Christian faith plagued every step of Lucas’ journey.

Lucas did find the Lord and, after high school, he attended and graduated from Letourneau University with Bachelor’s of interdisciplinary studies in Bible, Psychology, and History/Political Science. He is currently the teaching pastor at Shreveport Bible Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In 2012 he began to write and has since published 15 books, one of which is called “Naked Grace” and we will be discussing this book today.

In NAKED GRACE, Lucas Kitchen uses wit, humor, and visual storytelling to invite you to join his life-long quest for answers. This multi-decade pursuit took Lucas to some laugh-out-loud places. When the stakes were as high as they could be, the simple answer finally came.

His true life story in NAKED GRACE explores the confusion that many Christians quietly experience on a weekly basis. As this book demonstrates: just because they’re quiet doesn’t mean they get it. This self-deprecating tale will resonate with anyone who has wrestled with these unanswered questions and is dying to know the truth.

Help me welcome to the program, Lucas Kitchen! Lucas, thank you for taking the time to come on the program today!

First question, other than brief bit of information I just shared, tell us in your own words, “Who is Lucas Kitchen?”

Now, tell us a little about your new book, “Naked Grace.”

You talk about being confused as to “What do I need to do to be saved?” How so?

Can you give us an example of how your confusion caused some problems?

Did you feel it was just you that was confused? Or did you know others felt the same way?

What was the response from your ministry leaders whom you were asking these questions to?

Why did you title your book, “Naked Grace?” Where did that come from?

Give us the basic layout of your book. Can you give us a couple of examples of the stories you share?

I urge you to go down into the show notes and get a copy of Lucas Kitchen’s book, “Naked Grace” today. Do it while you are thinking about it. This book will be a great addition to your reading program.
