BitCoin for Churches
Patrick Melder pt 2
If you are an investor or someone thinking of investing, you probably have heard about Crpto-currency lately. Crypto is an unregulated, off the grid type of currency that has governments upset. Why? Mainly because they can’t regulate it! There is a lot of misinformation out there and a lot of different choices if you decide this is something that you want to do. To help us get a little better understanding of Crypto-Currency and, more specifically, the “big boy” in the room – BitCoin – we have our guest today who happens to be a BitCoin expert! Praise God! Dr. Patrick Melder was a US Army doctor for 13 years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC as well as a private practice Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon after serving in the military. He holds over 30 US and international patents and is passionate about the Great Commission of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth… Patrick is also a serial entrepreneur. He first learned about Bitcoin in 2013 but made his first purchase in 2018 and has held ever since. He’s written extensively about Bitcoin’s truths and the impact it has on believers and non-believers. Patrick also hosts a weekly podcast: “Mission:Bitcoin,” this is an interview podcast focusing on Bitcoin and Christianity, exploring Christian responsibility in adopting Bitcoin; How Bitcoin helps Christians align with God’s plan; and How Bitcoin can be used in Christian Missions. He has also the author of “The Christian Case for Bitcoin.” I remember back, I’m guessing 5 or 6 years ago, it could have been a bit more, but it seems like BitCoin was about $300 per coin or so. And I was contemplating putting some money into – but decided it was probably a fad and it would end up going to zero. Have you heard that from others? Surely, I couldn’t be the only one…? Why are the governments of this world concerned about BitCoin and other Crypto-Currencies? But if someone starts using Crypto-Currency, how can they use it to buy everyday items? Wouldn’t they have to convert it to regular currency? I believe the banks are required, I believe currently it is still $10K per transaction, and the banks have to tell the government about it. They are asking on the tax forms if you have any crypto-currency, etc. Does a person have to inform the government of any and all crypto-currency, i.e. BitCoin, when we purchase it? Or is it only when we sell it (so they can tax the profits)? That gives us a foundation of what BitCoin and crypto-currency is. Before we get into the importance of possibly using BitCoin in ministry, why should we be wary of the current financial system? You discuss, on your podcast and blog, that Christians and Christian ministries have a “moral obligation” to adopt BitCoin. What do you mean by that and why is this a “moral obligation?” Folks, Go down into the show notes and reach out Patrick Melder. Listen to the podcast. Definitely, most definitely, order his book, "The Christian Case for Bitcoin." Just click the links and begin to study this out for yourself. I believe, from what you’ve heard today, crypto-currency is no longer just a fad. It is real. It is something, as you heard Patrick Melder discuss, could be used by Christians, not if, but WHEN a financial collapse happens. Go down into the show notes and reach out to Patrick today.CONTACT INFORMATION:
