Love Thy Nay Bor
Anthony Wilson pt 1
We’ve heard the scripture from Mark chapter 12 verse 31 and Matthew chapter 22 verse 39, which says, “love your neighbor as yourself”, the imperative word here being “as.” The long form of this phrase would be “love your neighbor as you love yourself.” This implies that in order to be kind, compassionate, and generous to our neighbor, we must first be these things to ourselves. Amen! For many people, they “know the verse” but have difficulty in implementation. For others, they try too hard to implement the verse and end in strife. For others, they just ignore it completely and are out for themselves. Our guest today is Apostle Anthony Wilson, host of the “Love Thy Nay Bor Podcast” (spelled NAY and BOR). Anthony is on a mission to equip, encourage and elevate God’s people and to reach those who are far off and to bring them closer to God. He does this through sound doctrine and teaching and, through his podcast! Praise God! He is also the author of the book titled, “The Hand of God.” This book discusses true Biblical prosperity and success as a Christian. Help me welcome to the program, Apostle Anthony Wilson! Anthony, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to visit with us today! First question, other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Anthony Wilson?” Let’s start by talking about your podcast. Why the phonetic change to “neighbor” in your title? It’s definitely an attention getter! One thing that gets my goat nowadays is when someone takes one verse of scripture and tries to make a new doctrine out of it. From what I’ve read about you and from what I’ve heard, listening to a few of your episode, this is something that gets your fire up, too. Is that right? How can we, as believers and as fellow laborers of the Gospel, dispel this type of false teaching? I know, for myself, the type of teachings I listen to are, basically, deep dives on scripture verses. Not entire chapters in one sitting type of teachings. I love, for example, a study in Mark 11. Not just Mark 11 and not just Mark 11 and verses 22-24. But let’s go verse by verse through Mark 11 because verses 1-21 put into context what Jesus was talking about in verses 22-24! Amen! How about you, what do you focus on in your teachings? Another example of not teaching the entire doctrine, let’s use one of the MOST memorized scriptures in the Bible, John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Most Christians believe that and can probably quote it. But very few know what verse 17 says! “For God did not send His Son into the world to CONDEMN the world; but that the world – THROUGH HIM – might be saved!” So many focus on verse 16 and only worry about the individual – which we should, I’m not trying to minimize that – but there is also an entire WORLD beyond our four walls that needs to be reached. I see our internet ministry as fulfilling verse 17 – but we do it by reaching INDIVIDUALS to help THEM fulfill verse 16. But our ministry – and yours – through podcasting, etc. is reaching THE WORLD! Amen! And, of course, we are fulfilling the Great Commandment in all of this as well. Folks, as you have heard Anthony Wilson and I go back and forth, the Word of God is so needful today than at any other time in human history. Events happening all around the world right now, yes, they’ve been happening since time began!
