Under the Orange Blossoms – Cindy Benezra pt 2
Under the Orange Blossoms
Cindy Benezra pt 2
Child abuse is one of the worst forms of trauma a human being endures. Unable to comprehend what is happening, but knowing it’s wrong. Unable to protect themselves. Unable to fight back. And when the violator is someone who is supposed to be protecting you, it is unimaginable.
But yet, in our society today, it is happening all around us. In 2020 alone, more than 7 million child abuse reports were filed. That’s the number that was reported. And more than 90% of those abused, were abused by one or both parents. This is tragic.
Cindy Benezra was one such child. She has authored a memoir titled, “Under the Orange Blossoms,” where she shares her tough childhood of abuse. It’s an inspirational story. A story of hope…a story where she shares her courage and willingness to heal.
In her book, she offers tools to heal and, through the telling of her heartfelt story, shows how anyone who has faced forms of trauma can be inspired by her story and wise words.
This is part two of our amazing two part interview! It took your entire life to experience the context and contents of this book. How long did it take you to actually write the book?
A lot of people say that writing about these issues is a form of therapy. Is that what you discovered? Or something different?
How did you arrive at the name, “Under the Orange Blossoms?”
On your website, you have a series of short videos. A few of them are you having a conversation with your father. Why did you decide to record an interview of him discussing this abuse with you?
Was he, how can I say this, willingly providing information during your interviews with him?
You went your entire life waiting for him to admit what he did, his acts of abuse to you, and to others. Do you think he finally apologized, in his own way, in the video on your website when he was in his 80’s?
Cindy, this has been so interesting. I know your book is going to be a blessing to many people. Many who have gone through, or are going through, something similar right now. What is your message to them? What would you say to that person, right now?
How can someone obtain a copy of your book, “Under the Orange Blossoms?” Is it on Amazon?
If someone wanted to get in touch with you, maybe to ask a question or perhaps to do an interview like this. How can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?
I’ll put links to all of this in the show notes below…
Folks, you need to order your copy of “Under the Orange Blossoms” right now. I know that you know someone who has gone through this sort of trauma. This book will be a blessing to them. Consider ordering a copy for your pastor as well. This would be a great resource for the churches and ministries out there. I’d even go as far as to recommend you get in touch with Cindy to have her come out to your church or event and discuss this very important topic with your members. Amen! Just drop down into the show notes and click the links right there…
Cindy, thank you for coming on the program to share about your life and your book, “Under the Orange Blossoms.” I do appreciate it.
Folks, that is all the time we have for today. For Cindy Benezra and myself, this is Pastor Bob reminding you to BE BLESSED IN ALL THAT YOU DO!
