Ephesians 3:16

“I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…”

Praying in the Spirit pt 2

When I first learned about speaking in tongues and praying in the Holy Spirit, I thought it was just something those big preachers did. You know, those who do nothing else but pray and preach. You know, like your pastor or other ministers who play golf all week and only work on Sunday’s. Maybe sometimes on a Wednesday night? You know the one’s I’m talking about, right?

Yeah, preachers work a lot more than just on Sunday’s. I’m telling you that…amen! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good!  You pastor looks forward to Sunday mornings because at least, during those couple of hours, he knows what he will be doing at a particular time of day. The rest of his week, is up in the air. It really is.

You do realize that a pastor has to have some time with his family, too. Right? And some alone time. And he or she may have other appointments – just like you do. But yet, someone gets upset when they want to the pastor to come over and pray for their sick baby or something, and are told, “I can’t do it right now.” Amen! Come on – can I get an AMEN from the pastors, too? Glory to God! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good!

But, the reality is folks, there will come a time when YOU will be the only on the scene that will be able to pray. It may be a car accident that happens to you or that you come on the scene and there is nobody but you that can pray. There are a myriad of different situational examples I could give. But they all point to one thing.

YOU need to be prepared to pray. Just like a police officer does not go to work in the morning wondering how many people he can shoot that day. No. He or she may go their entire career without firing their weapon even one time, other than on the range. But, each officer is prepared, trained and ready to react in an instant to any threat that does put him or her or others in danger.

That is how it needs to be in your prayer life. You need to prepared to react in prayer with no notice, no warning. You need to know that “still small voice” inside of you when the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray. You need to be prayed up and ready to take action with only a second or two notice. Amen!

When you spend time in prayer with the Holy Spirit, you become accustomed to hearing and knowing His voice. You will be familiar with hearing Him.

Those instances may save your life or the life of a loved one. But if you fail to put in the practice, as we discussed yesterday, you will never win the game of life and prayer. Never.

So, spend time today and make time every day, to spend some quality time with the Holy Spirit. Amen!
