Prayer 2021 – March 20 – Every Believer’s Responsibility

Scripture For Today:

Genesis 24:!2

“Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.”

Every Believer’s Responsibility

We talked yesterday about the need for someone to stand on their own Faith and believe they receive, rather than relying on someone else to do it for them. The reason for this is obvious, but yet there are many people that just don’t get it. Amen.

I’m telling you this so you can begin to believe and teach and hold fast to that which you have learned. The Bible says in Mark 11:24, “Therefore I say to YOU, what things soever YOU desire, when YOU pray, believe that YOU receive them and YOU will have them.”  This is totally, 100% talking about YOU.  It is a promise Jesus made to YOU. Amen!

How can I help someone else permanently with my faith if the other person doesn’t exercise their own faith to believe God or His Word? I can’t. That’s the bottom line. I can’t do it.  That person would not be able to receive from God even if I prayed the prayer of faith because his lack of faith would nullify my faith. When it comes to praying for someone else, that other person’s faith can nullify the faith of the one doing the praying. Amen.

Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together except they be agreed?”  Two people cannot pray in agreement unless they are in agreement about what is being prayed for.  But it goes one step further than that. Two people cannot expect to see the results of the prayer unless both of them are in agreement for the results and have the faith to expect the results.

If I was praying for your needs to be met, but you were not in agreement with the prayer, would your needs be met? No! Your unbelief would nullify my faith. It would not work.

Yes, it is possible for someone to receive victory and receive something because of the other person’s faith. But those are temporary victories. This is especially true for baby Christians. But there will come a time when that person needs to start praying for themselves. They need to grow up spiritually.

Think of it like this.  A young mother has her newborn in church. Sitting in the pew a few rows in front of you. Holding the baby and feeding it a bottle of milk. Everyone smiles and whispers how cute it is. And it is. Amen.

But, 18 years later, the same mother is still holding her 18 year old son, but stretched out on the entire pew and is feeding him a bottle of milk. Instead of whispering to each other how cute that is – I can guaranteed you they will be whispering, but it would be about cute. Amen.

There comes a time when the boy has to learn to get off of milk, start feeding himself and acting like a grown up. And there comes a time when the mother has to say, enough is enough, you need to start fending for yourself.

Well, folks, it works the same way for baby Christians. Yes, pray with them. Yes, pray for them. Yes, pray and stand in faith for their victory. But, just like that mother and her boy, there will come a time when your prayers will not work unless they learn to believe for themselves. Amen!
